Season 2012

Hurling Championship

Congratulations ot the Garryowen Hurling team who won the championship semi-final on Sunday last and are now through to the final on Sunday 20th May.
We wish them the best of luck in that.

Railway Cup Sunday 12th February

Garryowen followed up their International Rules win with a run out for some of our players in the Railway Cup hosted by Wolfe Tones at Gaelic Park on Sunday. In total there were 8 players from the Garryowen football squad involved as well as players form the Hurling and Ladies Football squads. The big win of the day was Munster winning the final of the Men's football against Connaught, where there were 7 Garryowen players involved in total, including 4 players on the winning Munster side. A special mention to Shane who starred in midfield against some very fancied oppenents, and also to Dermot who took some well taken scores in both Munster matches. Another mention to Rory, Pat and Padraig who starred in Connaught's win over Ulster and also contributed in the final against Munster.
A big thank you to the Wolfe Tones GAA Club for who did a great job of hosting the competition.

International Rules Friday 10th February

The Garryowen 2012 season got off to a great start this weekend with an International Rules match against the Lang Lang Aussie Rules club in Lang Lang on Friday evening. After an opening quarter where both sides took time to get used to the compromise rules, Garryowen really took control in the 2nd and 3rd quarters including scoring 2 well taken goals. In the 4th quarter Lang Lang came right back into the game with a goal of their own. However, Garryowen held out and ended the game with their first win of the season - and also their first 'silverware'. There were some big performances from the Garryowen players especially some of the new players. A big thank you to the Lang Lang club for hosting the match and making this a very memorable day out for the club.
